Shaw to have help with ‘mental demons’

Manchester United will reportedly make a psychologist available to Luke Shaw as he begins his recovery from a horrific double leg break.

The left-back is scheduled to undergo another operation on Friday before potentially being flown back to Manchester at the weekend.

Two orthopaedic surgeons and a trauma specialist conducted an operation on Shaw’s leg on the night of United’s 2-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday night.

Shaw could miss the entirety of the 2015-16 season and Euro 2016; it’s a cruel blow after his explosive start to the season for both United and England.

“Part of the recovery process will involve the player dealing with his mental demons and the bad memories of what happened to him that night,” a club source told the Daily Star.

“A psychologist will be made available to him if needed, to talk him through it all and help his chances of being mentally ready to return to the game.”

Meanwhile, The Sun claims that Hector Moreno – whose tackle broke Shaw’s leg – and PSV manager Phillip Cocu have visited Shaw in hospital.
