Shearer: Arsenal players don’t want Wenger to stay

Alan Shearer attacked Arsenal’s players for their lack of fight and direction against West Brom.

Arsenal needed victory to regain their momentum in a bid to finish in the top four once again, but lost 3-1 and were dismal during the second half.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Shearer claimed Arsenal’s performance indicated that the players are not bothered about Arsene Wenger leaving.

“There has been a lot of chat about Arsene Wenger’s future,” said Shearer.

“There hasn’t been a lot spoken from his players. But his players spoke today in that game.

“Judging by that performance and other recent performances, they don’t want him in that job.

“Arsene Wenger would have looked at his players today and asked for a reaction.

“They lacked heart, they lacked fight, they lacked direction. Every player other than Sanchez was pretty embarrassing.

“West Brom bullied Arsenal all over the park. They were much better in every position and deserve a lot of credit for doing that.”

Arsenal are now at a longer price than both Liverpool and Manchester United to make the top four.
