Shock horror: Redknapp wants lots more new signings

Harry Redknapp says that he still wants plenty of new signings at Birmingham City.

Redknapp was given a new one-year contract after keeping Birmingham up last season, and has already been busy in the transfer market, signing four players on permanent deals.

In a development that will shock the football world to its core, Redknapp says that he needs new players. If he doesn’t get them in, he says Birmingham will struggle.

It’s worth remembering that Birmingham’s squad were doing pretty well under Gary Rowett before the appointment of Gianfranco Zola.

“It was OK, I’m not close to where I want to be until I get the squad in that I want – and we are not close to that yet,” he said.

“I am nowhere near where I want to be come the first game of the season.

“It’s difficult, I have got targets I am looking at.

“I just need to get the players in I am trying to get. If we can get them over the line I think we will be good, if we don’t it’s not going to be easy.

“We have got some good players but I need to strengthen the squad desperately, maybe there is five players I have got in mind.

“It’s been a frustrating week but we need to get the players I want over the line.

“People are asking silly money for players – that’s the problem.”
