Manchester City midfielder David Silva says he is “happy” at the club and refuses to get “obsessed” with winning titles.

The Spaniard has won the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup with City, while he has triumphed in the European Championship and World Cup with his national team.

The Champions League is the main major trophy that has eluded him so far in his career but Silva won’t let himself get carried away with chasing honours.

“I have been here for an eternity and I am happy. It is vibrant and very demanding football,” Silva said.

“I like lots of things, the competitiveness every weekend. There are lots of good things here and the British fans are amazing.

“But personally I just try to work day to day – I do not get obsessed with thinking about titles.”

Silva has amassed an impressive 109 caps for the Spanish national team and reveals he is as hungry as ever to drive Spain to more success.

“I’m always proud to wear the colours of Spain,” said Silva. “The truth is that this new phase with them is very exciting.

“We maintain the same motivation with the group and this is what is important in order to do great things and bring more happy moments.

“The most important thing has been in keeping the group united and motivated and this continues.

“What is important is the union of the group and this continues in the same way – so everything is good.”
