Moussa Sissoko is “flattered” by rumours linking him with a move to either Real Madrid or Manchester United this summer.
The Newcastle midfielder has made no secret of his desire to depart St James’ Park after the club’s relegation to the Championship.
The Magpies have set the France international’s valuation at £35m, but Rafael Benitez has reiterated his desire to keep the player in his squad.
Real have been linked throughout the summer – although Crystal Palace emerged as more likely suitors earlier this month.
Speaking to French newspaper L’Equipe, Sissoko described rumours linking him with Real and Manchester United – nope, nor us – as “flattering”.
“That’s flattering,” he said. “Who would not be flattered by the interest of one of the best clubs in the world, if not the best?
“It’s simple when you are young and you start playing football, your dream is to become a professional and play for a club like Real Madrid or Manchester United.
“Today I worked my way up.
“Everything goes well and if a club like Real comes to me it will be something huge.”
