Victor Wanyama

Kenya national team coach Bobby Williamson expects captain Victor Wanyama to be with the team in Nairobi despite reports to the contrary in England.
Wanyama did not play in either of Southampton’s last two games with a reported stomach discomfort keeping him out, but Williamson is convinced he, along with all the other foreign-based players called up to the squad, will arrive at training camp on 2 September.

“The confirmation I have is that he is coming for the game. Like all the others called up, he is expected to be around on Wednesday in time for preparations for the game,” the Harambee Stars boss told Soka.

“We will start training (Tuesday) at the Nyayo Stadium as from 2.30pm.

“We are going to train intensively from Tuesday (today) afternoon but we may have some light work-out on Tuesday morning.

Kenya take on Zambia in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Kasarani on Sunday and Williamson admitted they are expecting a tough encounter.

“It is a difficult match but we are counting on the home support to drive us through the extra mile and supply us with that extra incentive,” he concluded.
