Southampton agree club record fee for Boufal

Southampton are set to break their transfer record after agreeing a £21.2million fee for Lille forward Sofiane Boufal.

The fee will beat the £15million Saints paid Roma to sign Dani Osvaldo and will pave the way for Jay Rodriguez to join West Brom on loan.

Morrocco international Boufal is currently sidelined with a knee injury and will not be fit to return until next month.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder scored 11 goals and registered four assists in Ligue 1 last season and has also been linked with Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Saints remain adamant that Jose Fonte will not be sold to Manchester United this summer.
