Southend v Preston preview

Paul Sturrock has hinted that he will make changes as his Southend side bid to extend their unbeaten run to 15 games in the replay.
The Shrimpers boss made just one change for his side’s 3-2 win over Dagenham at the weekend, and the short turnaround is likely to give the fringe players a chance to impress Sturrock.
Speaking after the Daggers victory, he told the club’s official website: “There will be changes.
“People will be given their opportunities on Tuesday. I cannot keep going to the well with the same boys.”
Striker Neil Harris and defender Luke Prosser are among those likely to be given a starting berth.
Midfielder Anthony Grant will serve the second game of his suspension while striker Blair Sturrock will hope to overcome an abductor strain.
Neil Mellor is expected to continue in attack when Preston travel to Southend for their FA Cup first-round replay.
Mellor made an unexpected comeback from an ankle injury in the 1-0 defeat to Rochdale at Deepdale on Saturday and suffered no reaction to the problem.
Boss Phil Brown could have his side’s attacking options further boosted by the news that Iain Hume (knee) and Jamie Proctor (hernia) have returned to training after lengthy spells on the sidelines.
On-loan Southampton striker Jonathan Forte is unavailable for the replay, while winger Kemar Daley is set to miss out with a hamstring strain.
Iain Turner remains absent with a broken foot, so Thorsten Stuckmann is set to contiunue his impressive start to life between the posts at North End.
The cup could provide a welcome distraction for Preston, who made it eight league games without a win at the weekend.
