Mousa Dembele admits that players could easily be tempted by the money and prospects on offer in the Chinese Super League.
A number of established players have made the switch to the burgeoning league, with Chelsea reserve Oscar recently joining Shanghai SIPG for £52million.
Carlos Tevez has become the best-paid player in world football upon his move, while Hulk and Graziano Pelle have also made the switch.
Dembele’s international teammate Axel Witsel was signed by newly-promoted Tianjin Quanjian last week, and will earn around £255,000 a week.
The Tottenham midfielder admits that the large amounts of money involved does make a move tempting.
“It is a very difficult choice,” Dembele told Het Nieuwsblad.
“For young players who are still growing, it is not wise to go. For older players maybe it’s different.
“But honestly I have no idea about the level of the championship there. It is hard to say.”
