Surprise! Modric expects Ronaldo to stay at Real

Cristiano Ronaldo’s connection with Real Madrid is “so strong” that Luka Modric expects him to stay.

Ronaldo has become a Real legend since joining the club for a then-world-record fee in 2009.

In eight short years the Portuguese has become the club’s record goalscorer, winning 11 trophies and countless individual accolades at the Bernabeu.

He has been linked with a move away this summer however, having reportedly grown unhappy at his media treatment in the Spanish capital.

Manchester United were considered to be a potential suitor for their former winger, who has been accused of tax evasion.

Real midfielder Modric expects the rumours to come to nothing.

“I’ve never heard Cristiano say that he wants to go,” Modric told Marca.

“In football everything is possible, but I think the connection and the relationship between Madrid and Ronaldo is so strong that I think he will continue to be a Real Madrid player.”
