Surprise name in Man United Champions League squad

James Wilson is the surprise name in Manchester United’s Champions League squad, as confirmed by UEFA.

As expected, Zlatan Ibrahimovic makes the squad as he is expected to return to first-team action before Christmas after signing a new deal at Manchester United.

Wilson has been recovering from cruciate ligament injury and has not played for United since October 2015; he returned in a Premier League 2 game last month.

If you are wondering about the absence of Marcus Rashford, it is because players who are born on or after the 1 January 1996 and have played for the club for an uninterrupted period of two years are included on UEFA’s B List.
