Joao Teixeira has rejected a new contract offer from Liverpool in favour of his “dream” move to Porto.
The midfielder has signed a deal until 2020 with Porto, who could only finish third in the Portuguese Primeira Liga this season behind Sporting Lisbon and champions Benfica.
Teixeira joined the Reds from Sporting in 2012 but never really managed to impress Brendan Rodgers or current boss Jurgen Klopp, although injuries didn’t help his cause.

Despite only making seven appearances last campaign, Klopp offered the 23-year-old a new contract to remain on Merseyside but a chance to play for his boyhood club was too good for Teixeira to turn down.
“I am very happy,” Teixeira told Porto’s official website. “It’s a dream for me to play in this great club.
“I have aspired to wear this shirt because I was used to seeing FC Porto win over the years.
“I hope everything goes well and I want to give my best.”
