Chelsea players took to social media to thank Jose Mourinho after the Portuguese boss was sacked by the Stamford Bridge hierarchy.
Rumors had been rife of a player revolt disrupting the harmony inside the dressing room and the Blues owner Roman Abramovich finally acted to “protect the interests of the club,” according to Technical director Michael Emenalo.
Emenalo said “a palpable discord between manager and players” was to blame for Mourinho’s sacking on Thursday. However, for some Chelsea players this clearly wasn’t the case, as they took to social media to back their outgoing boss.
John Terry, who has been the captain under Mourinho for both his spells at the club, posted an emotional tribute to the legendary manager.
Terry wasn’t alone in his appreciation for Mourinho’s work at the club – Cesc Fabregas and Cesar Azpilicueta both posted on twitter to thank their former boss.
Thank you for all you have done for me. I owe you a lot and we will all miss you. Good luck in the future. pic.twitter.com/RQlOTFrtzU
