Bloody hell, he’s actually gone. A Jose Mourinho Mailbox is below. If you have anything to say on any subject (but probably the man himself), mail us at theeditor@football365.com

The Chelsea perspective
I’m gutted. Long term stability was the reason we hired Jose.

Goodbye Jose. Again.

We wanted you to stay and we owe you, our greatest ever manager, so much.

Good luck.
Ash, CFC

I was going to write a long and erudite email vis-a-vis Simon CFC about why moving on Mourinho was a good idea but all I can think of is…

Please please don’t bring in Brandan effing Rodgers.
Subir CFC India-Germany-Malaysia ( in terms of a mailbox hatrick, does a one line email at the bottom count as an injury time equaliser/winner ? )

The plan all along
Mourhino wanted to get the sack as soon as he got the 3 year contract extension in the summer.  A £30 mill pay off and a job at a big club abroad without any problem (with a nice break from football thrown in).

It was just a matter of who had the bigger cojones, Abramovich or Mourihno.  Obviously it was Mourihino, he got his £30 mill payoff and will now be free to join any other short term minded club for next season (most likely PSG).

Just shows how naïve Abramovich was in getting him back, pulled the same trick in his first season at Chelsea, and got away with the same trick again.

He will not be missed
Hey, I know you guys are gonna receive a few of these but I feel like I’m not doing my civic duty if I don’t respond to Steve Crawford from the last mailbox. He suggested the league would miss Jose, but I ask what exactly are we going to miss? His boring press conferences? His perpetual non-criticism of referees as he then criticises them? What, exactly? Fans of Jose are living off past glories. I ask you, Steve, when is the last time he shamed football by poking a fellow human being in the eye? The fire is gone. Yes, he still plays the same game, but it’s a tired game, and as we’ve seen this season when his team are interminably bad and he appears incapable of correcting it, it now seems nasty and even a little bit weird.

Yes, I admire his attempt to keep the brand alive by branching into new territory: blaming physios, doctors. and ballboys, but it’s old hat. Jose is a ghost of his former self, and even his former self was tedious after two seasons. He’s the sleight of hand magician who coasted on three very good tricks, and now he needs to show something more, he’s been found wanting

So yeah, if he goes, I think the truth is the majority of us will barely even notice. We got tired of his game long ago.
Justin Alesi (Ranieri for all of the awards, please! Even those he’s not ineligible for)

I’m a bit worried this might be good for Chelsea, depending on appointment. And in a way this has released Jose from his purgatory.

But let’s savour this for the right reasons. This is hilarious. The special one is now the sacked one, again. He won leagues, he pisses people off, we absolutely love every bit of misfortune he sees.

‘Specialist in failure’ hahahahahahahahahahah

If evidence was needed (it isn’t) of just how self-serving Mourinho really is, here’s a picture http://c.files.bbci.co.uk/5B26/production/_87243332_gettyimages-474638454.jpg of him celebrating “Chelsea’s” title win last season.

I say Chelsea’s, really it’s “his”. Those eight fingers he’s holding up show how many league titles he’s now won as a manager. Way to go, Jose.

What actually happened?
Well the news has finally arrived and Jose Mourinho has been relieved of his duties.  It was always going to be a question of when rather than if, so I don’t think any of us are surprised with the decision, or the timing.  My intrigue lies in what made the players play so badly for so long in the league.  Did they actually ‘down tools’ due to the Eva business?  Are they all just completely shot and the squad needs a complete overhaul? Was the public and private tirades from Jose too much to handle?

I’ve been muttering to myself recently and also to anyone who will listen, that with the way the players are playing I couldn’t imagine anyone could just walk in there and change the situation to get them back to being the all conquering machine they were last season, so where to now for Chelsea?  The reality is they could have Pep or whoever lined up for the summer, but then they could be in the Championship by then.  Then what?  Allardyce?

I can’t wait for JT to retire and pen his memoirs (did I really just say that?)

Godspeed, Jose
He deserved it. In every way imaginable, he got what he deserved.

God bless you football.

Warning to top four hopefuls
A warning to Top Four hopefuls. You know what happened in the Champions League the last time Chelsea finished outside the Top Four and had an interim manager.
Chris ITFC, (I did say) Liverpool

Poor Sunderland
Well Sunderland are in for a hammering. An absolute hammering. Chelsea players need confidence, shackle free attacking football and preferably someone who knows the club. Please please let it be Brendan.

Mourinho cycle
Mourinho joins Chelsea -> Mourinho wins title at Chelsea -> Mourinho has sluggish start to season -> Mourinho Sacked by Chelsea -> Mourinho replaces Mancini at Inter -> Mourinho wins title and leaves Inter -> Mourinho joins Real -> Mourinho falls out with Galacticos -> Mourinho Leaves Real.

And Repeat

I’d be a bit worried if I was Roberto Mancini
Mark in Manchester

What next for Chelsea?
If there is a god, please let Harry Redknapp be the next Chelsea manager.
Terry Hall, Switzerland

Please let it be Rodgers.
Stijn, Amsterdam

Where next for Jose?
I can’t see anything other than Jose Mourinho rocking up at Old Trafford within the next 18 months.

it really is a crazy season…
