Tottenham are still ten years behind Arsenal – Keown

Tottenham fans shouldn’t “get too far ahead of themselves” as their club is still “ten years behind Arsenal,” according to Martin Keown.

After their 4-0 victory over Stoke on Sunday, Spurs are now three points ahead of their north London rivals in the Premier League with the Gunners having a game in hand on Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

But former Arsenal defender Keown thinks that Tottenham have a long way to go before they catch up with their neighbours.

“They’re 10 years behind Arsenal,” Keown told BT Sport. “The Wembley effect, we did that, and it was never going to be successful for them.

“I don’t think Spurs fans should get too far ahead of themselves. They have a smaller squad, and that’s due to financial constraints.

“They’re building a brand-new stadium. We’ve already heard about that from Arsenal and how restrictive that was, so they already have that to contend with.”
