Ben Davies hopes the return of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Harry Winks can sway the north London derby Tottenham’s way.
The England trio sat out goalless draws against Germany and Brazil during the international break with various injuries.
But they are all expected to be fit for Tottenham’s Premier League trip to Arsenal on Saturday.
“The boys have had a few niggles here and there,” Spurs defender Davies said.
“Sometimes these friendlies can be one game too much with the programme coming up.
“If it means they are fresh for us on the weekend then we can be happy for that.”
Third-placed Spurs head to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday four points ahead of neighbours Arsenal.
But Mauricio Pochettino’s side trail runaway leaders Manchester City by eight points.
“City are a top side and have set the benchmark this year,” Davies said.
“Now we have to be on top and clinical in every game.
“We have to try and keep picking up the points to catch them.”
Davies will not be at the 2018 World Cup following Wales’ failure to qualify for the tournament.
But the 24-year-old defender expressed his delight that Spurs team-mate Christian Eriksen will be in Russia next summer.
Eriksen scored a hat-trick on Tuesday night as Denmark beat the Republic of Ireland 5-1 in a World Cup play-off.
“Chris is phenomenal for us, he dictates the play and gets us going,” Davies said.
“For me it is no surprise to see him scoring.
“He’s a player who deserves to be at a World Cup.”
