Tottenham striker Kane targeting 50 goals next season
Harry Kane has set himself the ambitious target of hitting 50 goals for Tottenham next season after a brilliant 2016/17 season.
Despite being hampered by injury, Kane managed to bag 29 goals in 30 Premier League appearances to pick up his second Golden Boot in as many years.
In all competitions Kane managed 35 goals – his best season to date – but he has eyes on joining an elite group of players that have scored 50-plus goals in a campaign.
“[Fifty goals] is a target I would love to get to,” he told reporters. “Hopefully I can stay fit for the whole season next season.
“That’s always the aim and 50 goals is something I would love to achieve.
“It was a very good year this year. There is plenty still to work on and improve, but I’m looking forward to having a break and then going again.”
Kane is expecting more of the same next season at Spurs and wants to be in good form with the World Cup approaching next summer.
“Going into next year with Spurs is very exciting after coming second last year – we have the Champions League and want to improve on last season,” Kane added.
“Going into the World Cup, there is no better trophy to win. So there’s still a lot to improve and a lot to work on, but I’m looking forward to it.”
