Tottenham v Sunderland preview

Sunderland striker Darren Bent could be sidelined for several weeks by the hamstring injury which kept him out of Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Stoke.
The England international was due to have another scan on the problem, which he picked up in training on Friday, today and is extremely unlikely to be involved in tomorrow night’s Premier League trip to Tottenham.
Central defender John Mensah is also a major doubt as a result of the shoulder injury he suffered at the weekend, although Titus Bramble is available after serving a one-match ban.
Rafael van der Vaart remains a major doubt for Tottenham’s Premier League game against the Black Cats with a hamstring injury.
Midfielder Van der Vaart is still nursing the problem that kept him out of Saturday’s 4-2 defeat at Bolton, while defender William Gallas also picked up a knock at the Reebok Stadium and was due to be assessed today.
Aaron Lennon and Robbie Keane are struggling with respective hamstring and ankle injuries, while captain Ledley King (groin) is still out, and Jermain Defoe, Michael Dawson (both ligament damage), Jamie O’Hara (back) and Jonathan Woodgate (groin) are long-term absentees.
