United boss Mourinho has some final words for Mkhitaryan
Jose Mourinho has wished Henrikh Mkhitaryan “success and happiness” at his new club after the midfielder left Manchester United for Arsenal.
The Armenian was involved in a straight swap deal for Alexis Sanchez that was confirmed on Monday following weeks of speculation.
After the deal went through, Mourinho had his say on Mkhitaryan’s time at Old Trafford and thanked the player for his contribution.
“I would like to wish Henrikh all the success and happiness that I am sure he is going to get,” Mourinho said in a statement. “He is a player that we will not forget, especially for his contribution to our Europa League victory.”
His new manager, Arsene Wenger, has welcomed him to the Emirates Stadium: “Henrikh is a very complete player. He creates chances, he defends well, he can absorb distances and he’s very committed as well. I must say he’s a player who has all the attributes.”
Meanwhile, Mkhitaryan was thrilled to get the deal over the line, he told Arsenal’s official website: “I’m very happy that we could finish this deal and I’m very happy to be here.
“It’s a dream come true because I’ve always dreamed of playing for Arsenal. Now that I’m here, I’ll do my best for this club to create history.”
