Manchester United have identified the three positions they wish to strengthen in the January transfer window.
United have slipped 15 points behind Manchester City after 22 Premier League games this season.
And although Jose Mourinho has angered club officials by complaining about a perceived lack of financial backing, United are set to spend in January.
According to the Daily Mail, United have identified the three positions they wish to strengthen, and could look to strike the deals in this transfer window as opposed to the summer.
Mike Keegan reports that United ‘are searching for two full-backs and an attacking midfielder’.
It is thought that Luke Shaw still has a chance of securing a regular spot at left-back, having started his third consecutive game against Everton.
But Mourinho wants reinforcements there nonetheless, as well as on the opposite flank.
The Portuguese also wants another attacking midfielder, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard currently vying for the spot.
It had been previously thought that United would wait until the summer to make their moves, but they ‘want them in at Old Trafford in this transfer window’.
‘It would appear that those in the boardroom are attempting to ensure that the squad strengthening happens sooner, rather than later,’ Keegan adds.
