United target Mourinho linked with Fener – report
Manchester United managerial favourite Jose Mourinho has emerged as a candidate for Turkish club Fenerbahce, according to reports.
Mourinho has been heavily linked with the manager’s role at United since he was sacked as Chelsea boss in December.
The Portuguese is the odds-on favourite to replace current incumbent Louis van Gaal, who has come under increasing scrutiny this season.
United have under-performed in the Premier League, finishing fifth, while their Champions League campaign ended at the group stage. They face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final on Saturday with the chance to salvage something from their season.
Mourinho has also been linked with Everton, while Paris St Germain have been credited with an interest in the 53-year-old, but a surprise contender has emerged for his signature.
According to Turkish newspaper Fanatik, Fenerbahce are keen to appoint Mourinho as manager, and will offer him £15million a year.
In a front-page news story, Fanatik report that Fenerbahce’s chairman and technical director are both keen to discuss terms with Mourinho’s representatives.
Vitor Pereira is the current Fenerbahce manager, but with the club missing out on the league title to Besiktas, Mourinho is being considered for the role.
