Van Dijk mulling over future

Defender Virgil Van Dijk admits he will consider departing Celtic should the right opportunity come along following their disappointing Champions exit.
A 2-0 defeat to Swedish outfit Malmo on Tuesday saw Ronny Deila’s outfit fall short of the group stages following a disappointing 4-3 aggregate defeat over two legs.

The club will now go into the Europa League draw and Van Dijk, who has been heavily linked with Southampton for much of the transfer window, was coy when quizzed about a possible departure from Celtic Park.

“I don’t know, it is so close after the game,” the Dutchman is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“I can’t give my opinion on that right now. I’m very disappointed and it’s a terrible way if it ends like this. I don’t know what is going to happen.

“I’m not looking for anything. It’s a great place to be and they (Celtic) gave me a great opportunity to show myself so I’m very thankful for that.

“But if the opportunity comes and it’s the right opportunity for me then I’ll consider it, yeah, but that’s what every player, I think, would do.”
