Louis van Gaal’s answer when asked if he discusses Paul Scholes’ criticism of Manchester United with Ryan Giggs was a very insistent “no”.
Giggs’ friend Scholes has been a very vocal critic of the Dutchman’s reign at United, with some suggesting that he would like to see the Welshman installed as Van Gaal’s successor.
Some sections of the press have emphasised the gulf between Giggs and Van Gaal, though reports on Saturday from journalists close to Giggs suggest that his ideas are now being taken on board by the Manchester United manager.
“He has a lot of influence in our decisions because I communicate every decision with my staff so he can have a big influence,” said Van Gaal.
“I work in a fantastic way with Ryan so that’s the only thing I can say but when you want to hear something about his feelings according to what Paul Scholes or Gary Neville are saying, you have to ask him.”
