Louis van Gaal has rejected the idea that he should be embarrassed about being so far behind Leicester in the Premier League.
While Van Gaal’s Manchester United still harbour hopes of Champions League qualification, Leicester are odds on to win the title race.
Given that United have spent £250m on new signings during Van Gaal’s reign, he could be expected to be a little aggrieved about the stark contrast between the two clubs. Not a bit of it.
“I don’t think it is embarrassing to be so far behind Leicester,” Van Gaal said.
“Football is a sport and what Leicester are doing makes sport beautiful. It means the money is not always dominating.
“It is about the quality of a team and Leicester is an example of a how to play like a team. I can only give a big compliment to the manager and his staff.”
Indeed Louis, Leicester are an example of how to play as a team. United, on the other hand…
Tears of joy when Mourinho is officially announced. The Van Gaal nightmare is almost over.
