Louis van Gaal has finally lost patience with Memphis Depay and will reportedly drop him for Saturday’s clash with Everton.
The £25m Dutchman has started all eight Premier League games this season but has scored just once and registered no assists.
He has lost possession 32 times this season – more than any other player in the top flight.
Van Gaal’s assistant Ryan Giggs has reportedly given Depay a dressing-down over his lifestyle, and now The Sun are quoting a source as saying: “He has been acting really big time around the camp which is starting to annoy a number of people.”
Former Dutch international Youri Mulder said in midweek: “He played one good match for United, against Club Brugge [in the Champions League]. In the Premier League he suffers, yet his attitude suggests that he is a big star. It seems that people at Manchester United are starting to get fed up with this.”
Depay also had an altercation with Robin van Persie while on international duty, before somehow contriving to wear the wrong shirt.
It is thought that Ashley Young will replace him against Everton, with Matteo Darmian moving to left-back and Antonio Valencia coming in at right-back.
