Aston Villa pair Leandro Bacuna and Jores Okore insist the club can avoid relegation this season.
The Villans secured their first win since the opening game of the season with a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Tuesday evening, but remain bottom and eight points adrift of safety.
However, ahead of Saturday’s home game with high-flying Leicester City followed by West Brom away, Okore says his side have shown they can stay in the Premier League.
“We all still believe we can do it otherwise we wouldn’t be here,” he said.
“We have shown we can work hard and we have the belief we can get on a run now with two big games coming up.
“If we get something against those two teams then everything seems possible.
“Leicester did really well last year but if they can do it we need to believe we can do it, too.”
After Wayne Hennessey’s own goal helped Villa to their victory over Palace, Bacuna believes the win can rejuvenate the club.
“The win is important for us, as a team and as a club,” the 24-year-old said.
“You still need to believe, you always need to believe, everybody can have a difficult time but you need to believe in yourself and the team that we can do it.
“The manager (Remi Garde) is really good and getting a win shows off his work has been good.”
