Jon Walters has thanked Stoke fans for their support after he failed to secure a move away from the club on transfer deadline day.
The Republic of Ireland international is likely to find his playing time restricted at the Britannia Stadium this season after the arrivals of Xherdan Shaqiri and Ibrahim Affelay this summer, and was keen to move to another Premier League side in order to fulfill such ambitions.
Walters had been linked with the likes of Leicester, Norwich and West Brom throughout the summer, but Stoke’s valuation of £3million and their inability to sign an adequate replacement in time scuppered any hopes he had of leaving. Despite this, the 31-year-old posted a message to Stoke fans thanking them for their support.
Tough times don’t last, tough people do. Appreciate the support from all the stokies ?? #specialclub
