Shaun Wright-Phillips’ son D’Margio has been called into the England Under-16 squad.

The Manchester City academy member is continuing a proud family tradition as his father and grandfather both won international recognition, going on to represent the England senior side.

Dad Shaun, who played for Chelsea, Manchester City and QPR and is currently playing in the United States for Arizona side Phoenix Rising, won 36 England caps and scored six goals.

And his grandfather Ian Wright, the former Arsenal striker, won 33 senior caps and scored nine goals.

Wright-Phillips will join the England Under-16s for the Montaigu tournament in France next month.

Also among a five-strong Manchester City contingent is Tommy Doyle, the grandson of the club’s former captain Mike.
