Wanyama confirms Spurs move, thanks Southampton fans
Victor Wanyama has confirmed his imminent move from Southampton to Tottenham.
It was reported on Monday that Wanyama, a long-term target of Tottenham, would complete an £11m move to the club upon completion of a medical.
The 24-year-old has been a Premier League mainstay with Southampton for the past three seasons, making 92 appearances for the club.
Saints signed the Kenyan from Celtic for £12.5m in summer 2013, but, with the final year of his contract at St Mary’s upcoming, Southampton are eager to recoup some of their outlay.
Speaking to website soka25east.com, Wanyama confirmed his move and thanked Saints, who continue their search for a new manager after Ronald Koeman moved to Everton.
“I am indeed elated at passing my medicals at Tottenham,” Wanyama said. “It is a new dawn in my career and I believe I will give my best for my new team.
“I want to thank Southampton management and fans for the exceptional time we had together.”I will always have a fond place for them in my heart.”
