Wanyama has no regrets over failed move to Spurs

Victor Wanyama insists he has no regrets over his failed transfer to Spurs in the summer, but admits he ‘wants to forget’ about it.

The Kenyan expressed his desire to make the move to North London, and looked set to be reunited with former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane.

Southampton have seen a number of key players leave in recent years including Luke Shaw, Morgan Schneiderlin and Adam Lallana. However, the Saints stood their ground and managed to hold on to the midfielder.

“I know what happened wasn’t easy,” Wanyama told the Saints matchday programme.

“I just wanted to put it aside and concentrate on my football and try to help the team.

“I don’t regret it, but I don’t want to have those experiences again. I want to forget it and to do that I need to help the team and the manager who has helped me as well.

“If I was a fan I also wouldn’t be impressed if I saw an important player getting interest from elsewhere, but it’s nature, it’s football.”
