Wenger answers questions over dropping Lacazette

Arsene Wenger has rejected the notion that he does not trust striker Alexandre Lacazette.

The French striker has started a couple of key Arsenal games on the bench this season, with Alex Iwobi preferred and Alexis Sanchez used as the central striker.

Given that Lacazette is the club’s top scorer and is their record purchase, that has come as some surprise. But Wenger has dismissed questions about any lack of faith.

“No, that’s not the case at all,” Wenger said when questioned specifically whether he did not completely trust Lacazette.

“I have a big choice every time up front, but he played many games.

“He didn’t play away from home against Manchester City, I think that’s the only game he didn’t start. Overall, I trust him completely.”

For what it’s worth, Lacazette also didn’t start against Liverpool, so two of Arsenal’s biggest league games. Still, he surely picks him against Tottenham?
