Arsene Wenger says that Alexis Sanchez will take time to settle into Arsenal’s first team again.
Sanchez has missed the first two games of the season with a muscle strain, having featured for Chile in the summer.
He played in each of his country’s five Confederations Cup games as they were beaten by Germany in the final, and has only just returned to Arsenal training.
The Gunners will welcome the return of their top goalscorer and assist provider of last season, but Wenger warns that he will take time to find his form.
The manager hopes to slowly reintegrate the 28-year-old, possibly starting with Sunday’s trip to Liverpool.
“We’ll see how he goes through the week. He has not played for a long time,” he said.
“He was out with a muscular strain and hopefully he will survive the tests first before he comes back. He’s not played now for six weeks and it’s difficult to be at your best in the first game straight away.”
