Wenger denies dressing room row after ‘naive’ loss

Arsene Wenger has denied claims that there was an argument in the Arsenal dressing room after their 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich.

The Gunners were thrashed by four goals at the Allianz Arena, almost securing their seventh consecutive exit at the last-16 stage of the Champions League before the home leg.

Many claimed after the match that players argued in the dressing room after the game, with The Sun’s Charlie Wyett claiming that assistant manager Steve Bould threw a bottle of water at the wall.

When asked whether such reports were true, Wenger responded on Friday: “Not at all.”

The Frenchman continued: “Everybody was disappointed but there was no incident. Just huge sadness.

“We were in an ideal position at half time and after that it all went wrong for us. We were a bit naive on the different goals.

“What is important for us is to focus on the next game and let everyone else criticise. We have to focus on what we can influence, and that is our next game.

“We need to keep our confidence and belief in how we play. We need to stick together.”
