Arsenal have completed the £35million signing of Valencia centre-half Shkodran Mustafi.

The 24-year-old has been the subject of intense interest from the Gunners throughout the summer, and underwent a medical over the weekend.

He becomes Arsenal’s fifth signing of the summer, and pushes their transfer outlay this summer to over £80m.

A World Cup winner with Germany, Mustafi has credited international teammate Mesut Ozil with convincing him to move to the Premier League.

“He is at the right age,” manager Arsene Wenger told the club’s official website. “He has good experience. He is a very focused player who can play with the ball as well.

“We have taken a great player but have prepared well for the future.”
