Arsene Wenger remains reluctant to discuss speculation surrounding Arsenal’s interest in Granit Xhaka.
Arsenal have emerged as the leading contenders for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Xhaka’s signature, with the Swiss international also having been linked with Liverpool and Manchester City previously.
Xhaka has made no secret of his desire to play in the Premier League, describing a move to England as a “childhood dream“.
The London Evening Standard were among many reporting earlier this week that Bundesliga side Gladbach would demand at least £35million for the midfielder.
Arsenal are thought to be unwilling to spend that much on the 23-year-old, and when asked of any potential interest in the player, Wenger remained coy.
“I don’t think it’s the right time to come up with [specific] names,” Wenger said when asked on the speculation. “We don’t discuss names but are making a list.”
When asked whether Xhaka was on said list, Wenger replied: “I will send it to you.”
Also asked AW about Granit Xhaka. Said #afc compiling shortlist but wouldn't say who. Did say he'd show me the list. I'll keep you posted…
