Arsene Wenger has insisted that Arsenal’s transfer plans will remain “secret” this summer.

The Gunners have signed three players so far – Granit Xhaka, Takuma Asano and Rob Holding – leaving some fans questioning Wenger’s ability to strengthen the squad.

On Tuesday, French club Lyon revealed that they had received an offer of around £29m from Arsenal for striker Alexandre Lacazette.

‘The reality is that Arsenal Football Club formulated a 35m Euros offer which Olympique Lyonnais has not considered for the sole reason that OL will keep Alexandre Lacazette who is considered irreplaceable and one of the key leaders of Bruno Genesio’s squad,’ read a statement from the club.

When asked for his response to Lyon’s message, Wenger replied: “Lyon is responsible for their own statements.

“On the transfer front, I think the best is always to keep as secret as possible,” he continued.

“If we sign somebody, we will announce it.

“But I cannot tell you much more on that.”
