West Brom stars mock Berahino tweet

Chris Brunt, Kyle Lafferty and Gareth McAuley have appeared to mock West Brom team-mate Saido Berahino for his ‘thumbs up’ photo taken on a private jet.

McAuley posted a picture on Twitter of Brunt, Lafferty and himself appearing to mock Berahino’s ‘thumbs-up’ pose on a plane to the Faroe Islands, where they are set to feature for Northern Ireland in a European Championship qualifier on Friday night.

Berahino posted his photo on Twitter on Thursday, just two days after his angry outburst at West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace after a prospective deadline-day transfer to Tottenham was blocked by the Hawthorns chief.

Berahino, who has since deleted both pictures, tweeted: “Sad how I can’t say exactly how the club has treated me but I can officially say I will never play [for] Jeremy Peace.”

The 21-year-old has been named in West Brom’s Premier League squad on Thursday, but a big question mark hangs over his future with his actions potentially making him a divisive figure at the club.

A poll of more than 3,000 fans in  the Express & Star found almost two-thirds believe Berahino is a “snake on a plane” and should not return to the club.
