West Ham chief: Are ‘lucky’ Foxes better than us?

David Sullivan believes Leicester have been ‘lucky’ this season, and are not much better than West Ham.

Leicester have been crowned English top-flight champions for the first time in their history with two games remaining after a remarkable season.

The Foxes have been beaten just three times in the Premier League, with Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez’s goals propelling them to an unlikely title.

West Ham co-chairman Sullivan believes that the Foxes’ success can be mainly attributed to “luck”, however.

The Hammers are currently sixth in the table, 18 points behind pace-setting Leicester, but Sullivan says they have been fortunate this season.

“I know how they’ve done it,” Sullivan told Sky Sports. “They’ve got 11 penalties, lady luck shined on them. They’ve had virtually no injuries. They’ve only used 18 players all season.

“They’ve had two players who’ve played out of their skin, scored more goals than they’ve ever scored in their entire lives.

“They signed a fantastic midfielder. One of their big signings came good, and that’s how they’ve done it. You don’t see them being massively better than you [West Ham] are.

“In contrast, Man City and Tottenham on a good day are real good teams, better than Leicester. The table doesn’t lie and Leicester are the champions.”
