Newcastle midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum claims he remains in the dark about his half-time substitution at Chelsea on Saturday.
Wijnaldum was no worse than the majority of his teammates who who 3-0 down after just 17 minutes in a match that eventually ended 5-1.
When reporters asked him whether he was injured or his withdrawal was tactical, he said: “I don’t know. This is something you must ask the manager.
“I think it’s his job to answer this question and not mine.”
Wijnaldum then intimated that the pair had had words, saying: “Yeah, he said something, but I keep it between me and him.”
When asked what had happened to the side that beat West Brom 1-0 last week, he replied: “I don’t know (what went wrong). I think we didn’t start well and they scored three in I don’t know how many minutes. Then it didn’t seem possible to win.
“(To concede three inside 17 minutes) makes it worse for us and harder to win the game. That’s what happened and that’s why we made it easier for them. It’s hard.”
