Turkish club Trabzonspor held “direct talks” with Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere about a loan this summer.
The club’s manager Muharrem Usta has revealed that he spoke to the English midfielder but that the move stalled “at the last moment”.
Wilshere is also thought to have held talks with another Turkish club – Antalyaspor – while West Ham, Newcastle, Swansea, Sampdoria and Fenerbahce were other clubs said to be interested in a player who has yet to even make the bench in the Premier League this season.
Usta told Turkish-Football: “I held direct talks with Jack Wilshere.
“We wanted him on loan and were close to a deal but the move stalled at the last moment.”
Wilshere is expected to start in the Europa League on Thursday against Cologne, alongside Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud.
