The goalkeeper will come in as back-up for Carl Ikeme but Kenny Jackett has confirmed he is set to start the Capital One Cup tie.
Head coach Jackett has said he will make changes from the 2-1 win over Blackburn at the weekend.
Adam Le Fondre could make his full debut after being a late substitute at Ewood Park following his loan move from Cardiff.
Newport manager Terry Butcher’s squad is down to the bare bones for the first-round tie.
Winger Lenell John-Lewis sustained a hamstring injury during Saturday’s 3-0 defeat by Cambridge in their League Two opener, while midfielder Yan Klukowski suffered a dead leg.
