Xhaka can ‘absolutely’ imagine playing for Arsenal

Granit Xhaka has admitted that he can imagine himself playing for Arsenal next season as Borussia Monchengladbach admit that they have received an offer for the Swiss midfielder.

Reports on Tuesday said the Gunners were close to signing Xhaka and he has now spoken to Swiss TV station SRF and said he was the “wrong person to ask” about offers but said he could “absolutely” see himself playing at the Emirates.

“Whether there are talks or not, the clubs Gladbach and Arsenal know that, but as of now I am still a Gladbach player. It might change in the next weeks or it might not change.

“There will definitely be a decision before the European Championship,” said Xhaka.

Monchengladbach have confirmed an offer has been received, with a statement on their website saying: ‘Sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed that there has been a specific offer for the Swiss midfielder.

‘An agreement with the interested club is still pending, however.’
