The 28-year-old switched from Rangers to Carrow Road in the summer but then sustained an ankle injury against Celtic in pre-season.

But Whittaker, who can play in a variety of positions, is fit again and hopes to feature in Wednesday night's last-16 tie against Spurs in the Capital One Cup.

He told the club's official website: "It has been a long time coming and I'm definitely looking forward to it. Hopefully I can play some part in the game and we can get a good result.

"It has been frustrating, as nobody wants to get injured when they come to a new club. I got a bad one on my ankle, so it put me out for a few months.

"But I've worked hard keeping myself fit and doing the rehab, so hopefully now I can get back to playing some games.

"It was inevitable that the injury was going to happen against Celtic as a former Rangers player, but you can't choose when these things happen.

"I've enjoyed my time here at Norwich though. I feel like I've settled in well, the boys are a great bunch, and I'm just looking forward to getting on the pitch with them."

Big test

Whittaker is looking forward to showing the Carrow Road faithful what he can do.

He added: "I'm pretty versatile. I normally play at full-back but I can play in midfield if asked as well, and hopefully the fans can see some good performances from myself.

"It's a big test for myself and the team. We want to put on a performance and I'm sure the fans will get behind us and hopefully we can have our name in the hat for the next round.

"Teams are known to change personnel in the cup games, but no matter what personnel Spurs have got it will be a tough test for us.

"We're more than capable though, especially with the fans behind us.

"I think we can gain confidence from the last two performances. The manager has been happy with the boys, they've enjoyed the matches, and hopefully we can take that confidence into Wednesday night."

I

still can't see the Phil Jones thing that some people go on about. Whenever I watch him play it's a repeat of headless chicken meets a gurning Bambi on ice for 90 minutes.

P

robably the first list I've come across in a long time where I agree with a large majority of what was written. Can't agree with everything though, Zaba has had an awful season by his standards, I'd put Monreal (a player who I've never rated) up there, gotta give credit where it's due, he's really stepped up his game.
