The Canaries eased growing pressure on Hughton with a deserved win over Stoke as they recorded their first victory away from home.

Hughton was delighted with his players as they responded in the right manner to their defeat to Aston Villa last weekend.

Asked if the players deserve the credit for the victory, Hughton told Sky Sports: "I think all the credit. It is a tough place and will continue to be a tough place irrespective of the way they play but I thought we had really good spells where we dominated possession.

"But it is always about who is going to put the ball in the back of the net and you are looking for someone to produce something and Jonny Howson was able to do that for us.

"But I thought on the balance of play we thoroughly deserved to win.

"They had to change their game and certainly went a bit more direct second half. That was something we had to cope with and I thought we coped with it very well.

"We wanted to get off to a good start on the back of the defeat last week and we knew the best way to lift everybody, the players, the supporters was to start well and that we did."

Stoke felt they should have had a penalty in the second half when Leroy Fer appeared to tug back Kenwyne Jones in the box, but their appeals were waved away by the referee.

Fer admitted after the game he did pull back Jones, but Hughton felt the Stoke striker 'made a meal' of the incident suggesting he was looking for a penalty.

"I have seen the incident but I do think the lad makes a meal of it," added Hughton.

"There is no doubt there is a slight tug. If people deem that it might be [a penalty] fortunately we have had something go our way which we have not had too many times this season, but in my opinion the lad makes a meal of it."

think that puts all doubts over Benteke's quality to bed. Can he do it after receiving the ball to feet, in the box, totally unmarked, on a warm, sunny afternoon in Swindon? Oh yes he can! This year is definitely Liverpool's year. YNWA.

ll very well selling all midfield and strikers but unless we bring anyone in that is better than what we had then it will be a terrible transfer window in my view. Sorted out the defense but our midfield and striker options look very light.

ove it when Jose accuses others of being defensive, cynical and playing to win. If I was Wenger, I'd get that quote laminated and framed - surely the biggest compliment he's ever received from Mourinho. You've got him riled Arsene - you're relevant again!
