The Canaries' record signing has struggled to make an impact since joining the club, scoring just one goal in eight appearances.

The 24-year-old Holland international has not played since coming on as a late substitute in the 0-0 draw with Cardiff on 26 October.

City boss Chris Hughton says Van Wolfswinkel has done some running on his own and will return to training next week with a view to being involved against Swansea on 15 December.

"It is the type of injury that if we push him it could get worse," said Hughton. "But he's pain free at the moment".

Norwich have struggled for goals this season, scoring just 12 in 13 fixtures.

On Wednesday, they were hammered 5-1 at Liverpool to leave them 16th in the table, four points above the relegation zone.

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
