With a lack of firepower having cost the club as they suffered relegation out of the Premier League, proven frontmen were expected to be identified as top summer transfer targets.

Rhodes was quickly offered up as one solution to the goalscoring problem, with the Scotland international boasting a prolific strike rate in the Sky Bet Championship.

Norwich have, however, completed a deal to bring Lewis Grabban to Carrow Road from Bournemouth - a man who netted 22 times in all competitions last season.

His arrival means further bolstering the attacking ranks is no longer a necessity.

Not that Adams was ever looking to land Rhodes, with the Norwich boss adamant that any links to a man who joined Blackburn for £8million in 2012 are based purely on speculation.

He said in the Pink Un: "I've seen all the rumours. I think they've put two and two together and come up with 25.

"Obviously Joe Royle had him as a young player, and I played with his dad Andy Rhodes. That's where the links are.

"We've made no offer for Jordan Rhodes - fantastic player, don't get me wrong. Scores goals for fun, guarantees goals, but there's been no offer."

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
