Relegation out of the Premier League has already cost Norwich the services of Robert Snodgrass, with the winger stepping back up with Hull City.

A second tier standing has also alerted a number of clubs to the possible availability of other key men, such as proven striker Hooper and Holland international midfielder Fer.

Adams is, however, reluctant to see any more sales sanctioned and hopes the Carrow Road board will do all they can to prevent further departures.

He told Sky Sports: “I hope so. They know I want them to stay. I’ve spoken to all of them.

“Players like that you don’t want to lose, simple as that. But we’re realistic.

“Robert Snodgrass was another one we didn’t want to lose but the money that was offered for him, we’re a Championship club now. That’s the unfortunate factor of relegation last season, clubs will come after your best players and when the money gets to a certain level, then it’s up to the chief executive to decide if it’s in the best interests of the club.

“But, for me as the manager, you want to keep all of your best players and the names that have been mentioned are top, top players.

“There are a few we are looking at. In some respects I’ll be glad when the transfer window closes because I’ll keep most of my players then.

“But, obviously, we know the position we’re in. We’re looking to replace players if they do leave with better ones.

“There will be a lot of names out there, we’ve got 30-odd days left, and we’re hoping we can add to the squad rather than lose players.”

Another of those who appeared destined to leave Norwich this summer is Wes Hoolahan, with the midfielder expressing a desire to move on during Chris Hughton’s reign.

Adams is prepared to offer the 32-year-old a clean slate, though, and believes he will be a useful asset in the Sky Bet Championship.

He said: “His application this summer has been excellent.

“He is happy. I have spoken to him numerous times, as you do to a player you want to keep and I make no bones about that.

“I want to keep Wes Hoolahan because I know what he can do.

“He is playing in a position that suits him, just off and in behind the strikers, but he is versatile. He can play other roles. If you can get the ball to him, then he is intelligent and clever enough to get through teams.”

still can't see the Phil Jones thing that some people go on about. Whenever I watch him play it's a repeat of headless chicken meets a gurning Bambi on ice for 90 minutes.

P

robably the first list I've come across in a long time where I agree with a large majority of what was written. Can't agree with everything though, Zaba has had an awful season by his standards, I'd put Monreal (a player who I've never rated) up there, gotta give credit where it's due, he's really stepped up his game.
