The latest round of European World Cup qualifiers called a momentary halt to fixtures in the Championship and Davies is adamant it was of benefit to him and his in-form Forest team.

He said: "The players and staff have worked very hard - this break has certainly come at a good time for everyone at the club. The injured players benefited in particular, along with the likes of Andy Reid who was struggling with a slight virus.

"It's important to get that rest. The Championship is a long and difficult season and, although my staff and I have only been here for a short period of time, I have to bear in mind what a difficult season it's been for everyone else.

"Over the course of the next couple of days, we'll start to get our full complement of players back and be able to prepare for what will be a very difficult game against Brighton on Saturday."

Henri Lansbury picked up an injury in England's Under-21 international against Romania, but the midfielder could be in contention for the weekend.

Davies said: "He was carried off very early in the game and the England medical team advised him to return to Forest for treatment.

"It's too early to say whether or not he'll be available but we're certainly pleased with the progress he's making."

ever ceases to amaze me when ex players come out with comments like that. Clearly they have zero interest in the best interests of a club that provided them with a living to be making such idiotic and boorish comments as that. Shame on you Jimmy Case.

ait, so now he can get injured when he's not on international duty? It's almost as if his previous injury could've happened at any time and being with the England squad had nothing to do with it.
