Jamie Mackie: Nottingham Forest have placed a bid for the 27-year-old

Forest boss Billy Davies has long admired Mackie having tried to sign him during his first spell in charge at the City Ground when the Scotland international was a Plymouth player.

Despite the addition of Jamie Paterson this summer, Davies remains keen to add further attacking flair to his side and Mackie fits the bill due to his ability to play both through the middle or on either flank.

The 27-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements last season as QPR were relegated from the Premier League and his situation at Loftus Road shows little improvement as Hoops manager Harry Redknapp targets new additions to his forward line.

Mackie has two years remaining on his contract having signed an extended deal last summer.

e was right to leave, but not just because of the money City were coming into. If I remember rightly he had a reasonable amount of chances to shine at City, but he never passed the bloody ball. Loads of aimless dribbles and 40 yard shots and not much else. I would say that if he had learnt to be a bit more of a team player he may have done better at City.
