The 27-year-old, a £1.55 million signing from Olympiakos in the summer, has had to bide his time since joining the Reds, but he impressed on the wing as Forest fought back from two goals down in an entertaining encounter with Boro.

"He's getting fitter," said Davies. "You can see his quality and he's now getting to the fitness level that is required. We had to shift him around a bit with 10 minutes to go as his legs went a little bit.

"We've got some good wide players at the club with (Jamie) Mackie and Abdoun, and young Jamie Paterson is one who can play in a number of positions and he is coming on great as well.

"We'll get him to a level where we think he's ready to go and he played very well last night along with many others."

For the third game in a row, striker Darius Henderson scored a crucial goal - to make it three for the season - with fellow substitute Matt Derbyshire also netting as Forest roared back to earn a point and maintain their unbeaten home run at the City Ground.

Davies said of Henderson: "He might just end up surprising a few this season with the goals he scores, now that we can get people in the right positions. He's a big help to the team, no doubt about it and he's a fantastic leader."
